The Okavango Delta has to be one of the most extraordinarily beautiful places, and I got to take it all in on some really wonderful game drives and nature walks. But this is only part of the reason I loved my stay at the enchanting Abu Camp. My accommodation, an Afro-Bedouin styled tent was surprisingly spacious, and I loved how it blended in with the surroundings. Shady trees, a gorgeous lagoon and a secluded plunge pool are just some of the other delights.
But what makes Abu Camp so unique is the fact that we as guests are actually invited to interact with the resident elephant herd. This incredible experience is part of a program to return elephants that have spent most of their life in captivity back to the wild. The elephant back safari in which you get to ride an elephant is an absolute must. Truly magical!
