Overlooking the magnificent Dwarsberg Hills and the Marico River, Madikwe Safari Lodge absolutely enchanted me from the get go! Twenty suites are split into three camps. Each suite is spacious, and opens out onto a private sitting area where you can literally sit back and watch the wildlife in the bush. At night all the guests gather around large fireplaces and chat. It's a wonderfully communal experience and yet at the same private and intimate. During the heat of the day there is nothing better than cooling off in one of the plunge pools.
But really, your stay here isn't complete if you don't partake in one of the game drives. Experienced trackers and rangers with their vast knowledge of the bush and its wildlife will help you catch glimpses of some of the most secretive and endangered animals like the wild dog and the brown hyena. An unforgettable experience indeed!
