The rocky, untamed wilderness of the Cederberg is the dramatic setting for Bushmanskloof - a lush and luxurious oasis surrounded by 7500 hectares of predator- and malaria-free reserve. But when you're not adventure hiking, birdwatching, going on botanical tours, game drives or Rock Art walks (this site boasts over 130 bushman rock paintings), you'll find the rolling lawns, botanical gardens, four pools, spa and fitness centre offer a resplendent respite.
The prolific herb, vegetable and flower garden signals that food is a serious business here, and I was determined to capitalise on the exquisite contemporary cape cuisine and multiple award-winning wine list! Dining at sunset on the Homestead's terrace, al fresco at Makana, in the reserve under the stars with a barbecue at Embers, and in the romantic seclusion of Kadora - I enjoyed the complete epicurean experience: all punctuated with a fine post-dinner port at the tranquil riverside boma. Unforgettable!
