Benguerra Lodge Mozambique
Romance, privacy and seclusion

An idyllic and varied island paradise of forest, savannah, freshwater lakes (complete with crocs!) and wetlands, Benguerra makes for endless hours of exploring, be it by landrover or on foot. Or alternatively, blissful days of doing nothing: I opt for sun-bathing by the pool and on the pristine powdered beach, but there's also diving, snorkeling, fishing, sailing, kayaking, horse-riding and hiking...

There's also feasting on freshly caught seafood (your own if you can catch it!). My penchant for the spicy flavoursome local cuisine sees me over-filling my plate at the breakfast and lunch buffet. I'm marginally more disciplined during the set menu dinner! Whether you're in the elegant cabanas (right on the water's edge with private jacuzzi and plunge pool), the Casitas with their intriguing blend of safari sophistication and Arabic flair, or The Villa (sumptuous, secluded and serviced by your own personal chef) you'll be hard pressed to leave.
