Waking up to a huge elephant just metres from my elegant tented suite, I couldn't wish to get closer to nature. But I do. Chiawa's incredible guides make sure of that. The late afternoon game drive serves up sundowners, stalking leopards and a pride of lions ripping into their kill, while a safari walk provides first hand insight into the habitat and habits of the area's prolific wildlife. But to really absorb the magic of the Zambezi, I go canoeing along the river's winding channels. Hard work, but oh how rewarding!
I'm impressed with the relaxed refinement of the camp's 9 superior safari tents. Extra large and open-fronted, mine enjoys unobstructed river views - drapes drawn back, there's nothing between my gorgeous king size bed, quaint roll top bath and the natural wonder outside. Chiawa's man-made world of delicious Afro/Euro fusion cuisine and elegant al fresco dining is an equally attractive proposition!
